Nursing Home Ministry

The Brian Center
Longview's nursing home ministry at The Brian Center was begun by H.H. “Harper” House, who wanted to share Jesus and music with those who were confined to nursing homes. H.H. organized and directed the old time hymns music. He played the “fiddle,” and many other musicians from our church and the community have joined with him through the years. Services are provided each Sunday from 10  a.m. to 10:45 a.m. as a means to share God’s love through recurring worship services and fellowship, encouraging residents in their Christian walk with God. Those in attendance not only enjoy music but a 10 to 15 minute Bible study devotional. Volunteers participating in the services are truly blessed by the residents and God’s presence. H.H. House went to be with the Lord this year on February 7, 2010. However, the ministry he started continues on.

If you would like to be a part of this important ministry, please contact Johnny Rayfield or simply meet at the Brian Center at 3000 Holston Lane off of Sunnybrook Road (Wake Med) Sunday mornings a little before 10 a.m. Currently, help is needed with assisting residents to the service and back to their rooms (for example, helping with wheelchairs). Volunteers are also needed for devotions and to participate in the singing portion of the service.
