Youth and Children's Activities

At Longview, we believe that our young people are not just the church of tomorrow. They are the church of today. Through meetings on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights, worship experiences, retreats and monthly social outings, we seek to provide opportunities for our young people to establish a life-long faith and to put that faith into action.
 
We divide our young people's ministries into three age-group categories: 
  • Youth: Grades 6-8 and 9-12
  • Children: Grades 1-5
  • Preschool: birth to kindergarten
Youth

Activities for our youth include Sunday School on Sunday mornings and Youth SNL on Sunday nights. Youth SNL (Sunday Night L.I.G.H.T.S.) is for teens (Grades 6-12). L.I.G.H.T.S. stands for "Living In God Helps Teens Shine." This program includes our Youth Choir, recreation, a supper meal, and a Bible Drill-type study. On Wednesday nights, youth participate in our Youth DiscipleLife class. The teens are split up into high school and middle school groups for topical studies concerning Christian life and discipleship.

Special youth events include:
  • Super Bowl Party
  • True Love Waits
  • Youth Sunday
  • Vacation Bible School
  • Christmas Progressive Meal

Children and Preschool
 
Activities for our children include Sunday School, the Children's Message during the worship service and Children's Church on Sunday mornings and TeamKID on Sunday nights. TeamKID is for children ages 3 through Grade 5. It is a dynamic approach to Bible study using games, stories and awards to support the weekly lessons. There is recreation, crafts, choir and a supper meal built into the TeamKID schedule. On Wednesday nights, children participate in Royal Ambassadors (boys Grades 1-5), Girls-In-Action (girls Grades 1-5), Mission Friends (ages 2-3 and 4-kindergarten) and Music Makers (ages 4-kindergarten).
 
Regular social activities are planned each month for our preschoolers, children (Grades 1-5) and their parents.
